feed back from Derek Budd

We showed our rough edit to Derek Bud from Youthouria and he gave us feed back about all our films. All the videos got on the website except ours. He said our was incredibly powerful but maybe too powerful. He explained that the video would be good for schools as a discussion piece because they need someone to watch it with them and explain it and talk to them about it to make it do its job well. He suggested to take out the first shot of the wrist and the knife because it was a shocking image to start with and if anyone was thinking about it then maybe watching it and seeing someone else going to do it would make them think about cutting if they where getting bullied. We need to take away the hate website because it isn't clear that its a diary about his life and getting bullied it looks like a website that is trying to encourage self harming because the shot it too quick to read what it actually says and even when you pause it on the page its still not clear so i think we are going to take it out. He also said that we need to make sure the number on the phone is taken out our blurred so you cant read it and the same with the email address on the msn chat. He said that on other bullying videos it usually lifts you at the end and gives you hope on the future but ours didn't it was depressing all the way through. His feed back was useful because he gave us ways that we can change and improve our video. This lesson or next lesson we are going to take out the hate website and blur out the numbers and address.

Today we started by watching all the other groups and helped them by giving them feed back.
I hadnt seen most of the other groups and the ones i had it was a long time ago and they have changed alot. i was suprised with the quality and the attention to detail in the videos. I think they are better than ours but that was because i thought we had done a lot less than what we had so when we watched it i was suprised cuz there was music and the msn chat and texts where now on it and it wasnt like that last time. I no we still need to edit it a bit more becasue we still havent put the options in and what will happen we need to finish and take out one of the extra foot shots. So far the film lacks seriousness because it looks quite funnie because of how james is dressed but the music should help becasue is quite scary

Good. I like your focus on how you have been modifying your ideas. Try yto say even more about your use of technical skills, and how these are developing, and set more detailed targets for further work.

seventh performance lesson

Today we needed to finish our filming. I thought we had finished but we watched what we had recorded over again and saw we needed to record him getting a text again so we went to the music room. First we forgot the battery so i went back to get the battery. I was stuck doing the camera again but i only did one shot then james wanted to do it he said he needed us all out of the shot so we went out the room it took about 15 mins so i thought the footage would be quite good but when we got back to the room and started to capture it james had just been messing around with the camera and he didn't even film what we needed just him going to cut but then not witch we already have a lot of so we dont need it.

After lunch we showed Mr D what we had edited together so far and we decided we werent really showing cyberbullying at all it just looked like a self harm video so we made a plan to film him getting nasty messages from a person who he doesnt no who it is and then geting a nasty text message. This was okkay but it was alot harder to film than we thought it would be because when we tryed to film the screen we would do it on a tri pod so its not moving but then that made it hard to be able to see what it says on the screen so we had to focus the camera. We had to do the take of the talking over ebuddy about 10-15 times because it kept going wrong and we didnt no what to write. We still need to add the ways that you could stop cyberbullying like phoning childline and instead of the report button on facebook were going to go on the cyber mentors website and hover over the get help now and cybermentors online now buttons. I might be able to get some advice from some people that work on cybermentors and other mentors to help in the video and find out if we have missed anything out. I think we should mention as many websites in the video as possible so people know that they do actually have alot of choices.

sixth performance lesson

this lesson we didnt really do much work for our project. We did a little bit of editing to what we filmed last week before beak and i sorted out my folder and put labeled pages and made sure i had everything and copys of everything i needed.

After break our group went with another group to do some filming and they needed extra people. I ended up being a camera person. We did a first take and the group decided there acting was really fake so they wanted to start again we did filming up till lunch time then a security man come over and said we whernt aloud to film there when we where so close to finishing. We walked back to school and filmed the last little bit.

After lunch our group still needed to do a little bit of filming but james didnt have any of the clothes hair of make up so we did the shot without seeing his face and now just hoping for the best.
The other group after nearly a whole day of filming didnt like the footage they got and none of it fitted together because of the scene change so i think they will be re-filming next week.
Next week we need to finish editing and add music. Hopefully our film is okkay to use. We really need james facial expressions to be good because we have no talking in our film its just how the person acts and the music we found to go with it is really good for a royalty free one.

You really do need to add some illustrations to your blog entries - use a camera phone to capture your group's activity, for example. Also, try to reflect a little more carefully and constructively - at the moment it reads like you've rished it all down a little too quickly. For example - what more filming do you need to do, and (in detail) why? remember that this is the evidence of how you can reflect thoughtfully on your work in progress.

fifth performance blog :)

First this lesson we made a plan for what we where going to do today.

Before break we planned to edit our story plan and make it more detailed.

After break we where going to make james into his emo character ready for filming later.

Before lunch we where going to fill in the safety sheets and start filming.

Then after lunch carry on filming.

First we made a story board and had to decide what order it was all going to go in. Next we had some help and a big audience as james had his hair done and make up. We where going for a dark depressed just woken up look.

We couldn't film at james house so we filmed in a office and just had to put some props around to try and make it look like a bed room.
Today i was mainly a director i think and i did a little bit of camera work aswell.
We finished all our filming today and james did nearly all the editing when we got back even though we where going to leave that till next week so we had something to do. Me and Aaron wanted to do the rest of our filming next week so we could find a really good spot but we ended up just doing it behind a little shed. I dont think that footage would of been very good because we rushed it instead of doing it next week but if it isnt good enough then we could always do a little bit more next week.
Filming was fun this week but i sometimes got a bit anoyed when some people would just start messing around. Me and Aaron do most of the work in our group we ask for help from Petra and James but they never do it so we always left tidying up even if it wasnt us.
We failed to film the different ways to stop cyber bullying. Actually now i think about it we didnt show it was cyberbulling at all so we will need to do more filming other wise our film doesnt make any sence.
